Elementary counseling attempts to help all children! 

 

Guin Elementary Counseling Services Overview

 

Student Services Include:

* Help students work out personal and school related issues

* Help students work through academic difficulties and learn study skills

* Help students with friendship

* Teach students about feelings and self-esteem

* Help new students adjust to school

* Teach decision making skills

*Help students plan for school and careers

*Help students deal with peer pressure and  bullying

*Help students understand testing information

Parent/Guardian Services Include:

* Work with parents/guardians to explore ways to help their child be successful

* Help recommend referral resources

* Supply reference materials and information to help parents/guardians understand their child's unique needs

* Collaborate to help with teacher parent communication

* Educate parents/guardians about academic testing and explain testing scores 

 

Teacher/Staff Services Include:

* Address and help resolve student behavior concerns

* Work to develop and implement counseling guidance themes

and small group themes that address various issues

* Discuss and collaborate with teachers to accommodate

the special needs of students

* Work with staff concerning school testing
